Lilian Witthauer delivered a plenary talk at the SEMDSA (Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa) Conference in Cape Town titled “Rethinking Diabetes Monitoring: From Single Biomarkers to Systems Physiology.”
The presentation outlined the transition from single-parameter monitoring approaches toward integrated, systems-level sensing strategies that combine multiple physiological signals to better capture metabolic states. This perspective is central to ongoing work in the sensing and monitoring lab on multimodal and non-invasive sensing technologies for diabetes and metabolic health.
During the visit, the lab also engaged in scientific exchange with colleagues at Stellenbosch University, discussing opportunities for collaboration in sensing technologies.
