Research Interests

At the core of personalized healthcare lies the ability to accurately assess an individual’s health status and track disease progression. Conventional sensing methods often fall short in terms of sensitivity and specificity, limiting their effectiveness in early detection and personalized treatment strategies.

At the samlab, we are dedicated to advancing sensing technologies that can transform disease diagnosis and management across a wide range of conditions. A key focus of our research is the development of innovative tools for managing chronic diseases like diabetes.

Diabetes, characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, requires constant monitoring to maintain glucose within a healthy range. Traditional methods such as Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG) use glucose meters to measure capillary blood glucose, while Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems provide real-time data through a wearable device that sends information to a smartphone or receiver.

Our research aims to push these technologies further by developing next-generation sensing platforms that offer more comprehensive, real-time data not only on glucose levels but also on other critical physiological parameters. These advancements will empower individuals with diabetes to make more informed decisions regarding insulin dosing, meal planning, and physical activity, ultimately improving their quality of life and long-term health outcomes.
